The Forest Inventory is a concern that the sector faces for a long time. This concern intensified with the publication of the forestry law in 1998. In March 2006 started the operational plan for the implementation of Forest Inventory Realization Project. For the study all available information were gathered, and a quick analysis of situation of the forest perimeters by agro-ecological strata were analyzed, and an operating plan for implementation of the National Forest Inventory was proposed. After the operational plan, financial and technical resources were mobilized.
\n In February 2008, the activities of the National Forest Inventory were initiated with the following steps: planning, training and field data collection on the Santiago Island.
\n From April to October 2010, the activities were interrupted to review the project. In November of the same year, the activities of the National Forest Inventory were reinitiated and field data collection was concluded on the Santiago Island.
\n In January 2011, the realization of National Forest Inventory methodology was revised. In this context, a new plan of different phases of National Forestry Inventory was carried out.
\n The fieldwork was completed in December 2011 for the nine (9) inhabited islands of the archipelago. The data analysis, as well as the national team training for the production of final results, was carried out during the year 2012.
